The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will begin a series of public meetings Aug. 23 on Enhanced Drug Distribution Security Under the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), which took effect in March 2016. The Act requires pharmacies to comply with new “Track & Trace” laws. The FDA public meetings will provide a forum for members in the pharmaceutical industry to provide feedback on strategies and issues related to the Enhanced Drug Distribution Security Provision outlined in the DSCSA. As this process ramps up, VHHA Shared Services’ preferred Track & Trace partner, InfiniTrak, is working with members to achieve compliance. InfiniTrak management will attend the FDA public meetings, and plans to survey VHHA members to learn about DSCSA progression, and more specifically, how hospitals are preparing for the Enhanced Drug Distribution Security Provision, which requires transaction information and transaction statements to be exchanged in a secure, interoperable, electronic manner. This month, VHHA members are strongly encouraged to visit this link to take a brief survey about individual facility DSCSA compliance readiness. Click here to learn more about InfiniTrak.
