First Major Study on Quality and Cost of Care between Locum Tenens and Non-Locum Tenens

The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) recently published the first major study comparing outcomes achieved by locum tenens physicians to those achieved by non-locum tenens physicians. The study found that mortality rates achieved by both types of physicians were virtually identical, while locum tenens physicians achieved significantly lower hospital readmission rates. Staff Care, the nation’s leading locum tenens staffing company and the sole endorsed temporary physician search provider of VHHA, is referenced in the JAMA study. The report is a great resource for hospital executives interested in the quality of care provided by locum tenens physicians, so please feel free to share as you see fit.
